Katiesplace.org
After Katie Tarbox met an Internet sexual predator offline, she began the long journey of healing from her molestation. Ten years later, she looks back on her former thirteen-year-old self with a much better understanding. Having worked with many others who had encountered Internet sexual predators, she knew how easy it was for a young teen to be caught in the web of these molesters.
Now she realizes that there are many of these young boys and girls who never tell. They never tell their parents, or their friends or anyone else that they have been molested or otherwise sexually exploited by someone they met online. Sometimes the extreme pornographic images they encounter might be hurting them, or they may have been extorted into providing sexually graphic images via webcam or ditigal video or images. They may have stumbled upon child pornography or found their images morphed into pornography online by a former boyfriend or girlfriend, or by a cyberbully.
But they all have something in common. They all need a safe place to go for help and emotional support. Katie had long dreamed of building this place. And now, because of our collaboration, WiredKids.com will build it with her help and the help of many others who have lived trhough the torment of sexual exploitation. They will not have to suffer alone, and will be able to use the power of the Internet to get help they need.
